For the last 18 months Both Bill and Kate have not had their hair cut all during the lock downs and restrictions, but they have kept Stepping Stone going by offering online support, online live mental health discussions groups, a weekend walking group, online writers groups, three regular podcast and developing, printing and distribution of a booklet/collection of poems and photographs all submitted by service users. All these projects were set up to support people with mental health challenges and were going through loneliness and isolation caused by the lock downs. They have also set up a mixed ability singing group, now restrictions have lifted a little and have allowed opened doors to some new participants from Mencap.

Do you want to join in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of stepping stone theatre for mental health and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to mental health community of Gainsborough and surrounding villages of rural Lincolnshire, where many people are isolated and many creative, cathartic activities are restrictive.,

More information about stepping stone theatre for mental health:

Stepping Stone Theatre for Mental Health is an award winning theatre company for people with mental health challenges, carers, health care workers, family and friends; Winning both the high sheriff of Lincolnshire's award ( twice) and West Lindsey District Council award, both for services to well being in the community. We run workshops and create testimonial theatre. We also run workshops and training for other mental health groups. And, as stated, now offer a range of other online and face to face activities which have grown since the demand grew because of Covid 19 and the pandemic.

We want to keep all our projects going for a long time to come; as we know, mental ill health is hear to stay and on the rise since Covid. We want to help people deal with their challenges by offering them a range of activities to choose from, be it writing, theatre, drama group,s singing group, podcasts, walking groups and online support groups. We want to show that there is help and support out there and encourage people not to suffer in silence.

There will be many people suffering with mental health challenges for the first time and we want to assure them, they are not alone. Stigma is one of the main obstacle stopping people getting help in the first instance; we help promote anti-stigma and give a voice to people who often find it difficult to speak for themselves. We offer all of this in a non-intimidating, non-clinical no pressure safe environment. A place where people can be themselves not their diagnosis. We are creative, grass root peer support at it's best.

“I believe Stepping Stone Theatre for mental health is now a true asset to its local community. Aiding people with mental illness to tell their story and helping to rid the stigma which often surrounds mental illness. It also helps with social isolation and gives a voice to people who often find it difficult speak for themselves.” Mental Health peer support worker, Gainsborough.
