Bill & Andee McCauley were one of the families that tragically lost their home in the Lake Christine Fire in El Jebel on Lava Drive. They escaped within minutes (not hours) of the flames engulfing their home. Billy described the sound as if it was like a fright train coming. Andee said that fire fighters pulled her by the arm and demanded they leave immediately. Billy was inside saving the cats and the firefighters threatened to go in and get him if he was not out in one minute. It was a lot scarier for them than just leaving a few hours before the flames descended. They have lost everything but Andee’s purse and their cats.
They had a small apartment under their house - the rent paid on this apartment helped to subsidize their mortgage every month. Since purchasing the house 32 years ago, the cost of living has... increased.... (!!!) in the Roaring Fork Valley. Until they can rebuild, they are looking at sky-high rents for temporary housing.
I have known them for years from the pharmacy and they are both so sweet and always willing to lend a hand to anyone, now it is our turn to help them!
Please, even if you can only donate $5, anything helps!
Thank you!
