Biking For Hope

On January 15, my mother-in-law, Gretchen Hawkins, succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's. It was a long disease that progressed rapidly toward the end and slowly took away the woman we once knew.
The success that we have had in drugs and discovering cures is non-existent. But that does not mean we don't continue to try. Like riding up a 10,000 foot mountain into a 40 mile an hour wind, it feels like we are never going to make progress. But maybe, just maybe, the wind may let up a little, the path levels off, or we find a shorter path to the top. That maybe is our hope and I am proud to spend my summer biking over 3,000 miles to raise money for this charity.
