Bikes for Kids in Cambodia

I recently travelled to Cambodia to visit the child that my family sponsors through World Vision- Sarai. During this trip I met and spoke with many locals about the progress this amazing country has made since the days of the Khmer Rouge that saw 2 million people murdered between 1975 and 1979, nearly one quarter of the population. This has had an ongoing effect on many families and the country as a whole.

After speaking with the locals it became clear that education was a key factor in the country re-building and moving forward, however many children in the provinces are unable to attend school as it is too far to walk and their parents are too busy working in the fields to take them.

To assist these children myself, Bernie Venville and my friend Nik in Phnom Penh have made the commitment to donate at-least 100 bikes (as a start) at approximately $50 each to children in the Prey Veng province to ride from their homes to the local school. The school principal will distribute the bikes to the children most in need and will take on the responsibility of re-distributing the bikes when a student finishes school and the ongoing maintenance.

These bikes are vital to these children being able to gain access to an education and we would appreciate any donations to make going to school a possibility for these beautiful kids!

Thank you- Steven, Bernie & Nik.
