PROMOTING A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY

 

 

 

 

What is our project ?

 

We are three co-workers from Ricoh Industrie in France sharing the same values about ecology as well as the passion for sport and nature.

As we were searching for a way to contribute personally to the promotion of Ricoh’s circular economy activities, we got the idea to travel by bicycle from our factory in France to Ricoh Europe SCM (the European distribution center in The Netherlands) one of the recycled cartridge we are remanufacturing.

 

"We will cycle more than 750 kms by following EUROVELO route as much as possible (mostly along the Rhine) by carrying symbolically a Ricoh recycled cartridge from Ricoh Industrie France in Wettolsheim (the production site) to Ricoh Europe SCM (the European Distribution center) in Bergen Op Zoom (The Netherlands)".

 

 

 

A journey which will take place in September at the same time as two European events which promotes sustainable and responsible behaviors in full alignment with our company’s targets as well as our personal values:

• the European Sustainable Development Week (https://esdw.eu/)

 

 

 

 

 

Finally, considering that SDGs will only materialize with the involvement of next generations, we are committed with 3 schools from France and The Netherlands, hoping that the symbol of this journey will create the ambassadors of tomorrow for a more responsible society.

• Primary school of De Zeeridder at Bergen-Op-Zoom (the Netherlands)

What are the SDGs targeted ?

 

 

SDG#3

A 750 kms journey powered by muscles of Ricoh’s employees, promoting sport and a healthy way of transportation

 

 

SDG#4

Collaborate with the primary schools of Wettolsheim (France) and Bergen-Op-Zoom (Netherlands) and meet the young generation. Share experiences and educate about SDGs and circular economy while emphasizing on the importance of sorting / recycling.

 

 

SDG#12

Promote the contribution of initiatives performed by companies such as Ricoh by creating awareness of circular economy activities performed at Ricoh Industrie France

 

 

SDG#13

A 750 kms journey CO² free by using our bicycles

 

 

 

SDG#17

Our initiative will contribute to the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) and the European Mobility Week (EMW). Experience also shared with the EUROVELO community.

 

 

 

 

 

What do we want to involve schools from different countries ?

 

The SDGs will only materialize with the involvement of next generations !

Our wish is to initiate through our bicycle journey a schools' correspondence between The Netherlands and France about the following thema: “Children of 9-10 years old from two different countries sharing their best practices about sustainability”.

For instance, in the Netherlands children are used to go at school by bicycle :)

The 3 riders will take days off when performing this journey (private time).
