Rob's Battle with Leukaemia

Meet Rob. Rob’s zest for life is un-parallel to most, his smile always wide and his laugh infectious. Those who know him sum him up simply ‘If you need him, he’s there. He’s the type of person to go out of his way to help everyone and anyone.’
Rob is a 43-year-old treasure of society who shares the love of life with his beautiful wife Tanya, and two loved sons, Damon (16 years old) and Neil (20 years old).
Rob’s love for anything with an engine saw him as a truck driver, and an active part of cancer fundraisers. His favourite being the i98 Convoy where he gets to ‘to bring priceless smiles to the faces of children and their families who are debilitated by disease’, by simply doing what he does best; drive!
So, it’s safe to say when Rob was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (abnormal blood marrow production) it was devastating.
In the space of just 10 short weeks, Rob has already endured more than most in a lifetime.
Rob’s challenges have been endless; sepsis throughout his entire body, countless chemotherapy treatments and trials, consuming over 20 different medications per day, having up to 15 units of blood and platelets per day, Pericarditis (inflammation of fluid around the heart), an immune system and blood count at zero and too many sleepless and traumatic nights for one family alone.
In the short, but debilitating amount of time Rob has been aware of his condition, his personal expenses have only climbed higher and higher. Everyday Rob is in hospital fighting for his life, is another day his family goes without his financial support.
Rob is soon to receive a stem cell transplant donation from his sister in the hopes of battling this disease. This procedure will take a minimum of 100 days, seeing that Rob makes it to the end of the 100 days.
Rob’s fight is beyond inspiring, and his family’s hearts all ache for his wellness and for him to be able to re-join them in everyday life.
