Join us in supporting Trace in his battle to #kickleukemiasbutt!   Trace began chemotheropy treatments on 12/7 and is expected to be in the hosiptal for a minimum of 30 days from the start of his treatment.  We are raising funds to assist Trace and his parents with medical costs, hospital stays, lost work time, and recovery expenses.

From Tammy Barley - Traces Mom:

This journey began on Trace's 19th Birthday, Thursday November 30, 2017. He had been feeling fatigued, loss of appetite and loss of coloring for about 2 weeks. We went to Centra Care with the anticipation of the flu or maybe mono. After relaying the symptoms and determining he had dropped 15 lbs in 2 weeks, they sent us to the ORMC ER. They conducted routine blood work which came back with a white blood cell count of 38,000 and the shocking news that it may be leukemia. They admitted him and we were moved to a room around 9am Friday morning. To determine the type of leukemia and because of the urgency of time, they conducted a bone marrow biopsy about 11am, bedside with no Anesthesia, this was brutal to say the least but in true TRACE style he cracked jokes through the tears and pain. A couple hours later they took him to surgery to place a Hickman port. Later that evening, he began a medication called Atra. Saturday morning he spiked a fever and his hemoglobin dropped so they began a cycle of antibiotics , magnesium and blood transfusions. The good news is that his color, appetite and energy is increasing. The visitors and calls over the last few days have made all the difference... He is in good spirits now. We are waiting for the genealogy report from the bone marrow biopsy to determine the exact type of leukemia so they can begin the proper chemo regimen. This is just the beginning of a very long journey. We ask for your continued prayers that god and my angel, my sweet mama, will keep Trace physically and mentally strong, that they will guide the doctors to heal our baby boy. He has a big heart and I know he was given his personality to do BIG things in this life.
