Big Bill's Big Cycle

Donation protected
737 miles from Land's End to Oban.

I have been talking about doing this cycle for a long while and thought I had better stop procrastinating and do it.
This challenge will involve cycling 737 miles over 7 days, from the most south-westerly point of England, up through Wales into Scotland, then the North road up to Oban my hometown.

I am doing this cycle to raise funds and awareness for three main causes close to my family and friends.

In no particular order -

Firstly, in 2017 my gran passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She was bound to a nursing home for her own safety and wellbeing.

Going to visit her really opened my eyes to how this illness of the brain can rob a person of their independence and their memories. After it affecting our family like this I would like to raise money for to donate towards Alzheimer Scotland fund. Today it is estimated that 90,000 people are living with dementia in Scotland.Alzheimer Scotland fund Dementia Nurses, Dementia Advisors, 24 Hour Dementia Helpline and Dementia Research Centre. These vital funds will help support people with dementia and their families in their local communities.

Secondly , my sister in law, Laura has Cerebral Palsy. When she was growing up she went to a specialist school called the Craighalbert Centre which provided educational and therapy services for children and young people throughout Scotland affected by Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions, which result in disorders of learning, movement and communication.
Laura really enjoyed her trips to this school which helped educate her and also aid her development both mentally and physically.

I think schools like these are invaluable and they do such fantastic work to help these children and young adults.  I would like to raise money to donate as many of the services provided, including the hydrotherapy pool rely on donations otherwise they wouldn't exist!

Lastly, in 2017, my Granny Jean (on my mother's side) was diagnosed with cancer. She was admitted to the Beatson hospital in Glasgow . Thankfully, after her course of treatments there she was given the all clear early this year. So I would like to raise money towards Beatson Cancer Charity.

Beatson Cancer Charity is determined to beat cancer and is committed to securing significant funding to support and enhance  the treatment, care and wellbeing of current, former and future cancer patients and their families.

Please donate whatever you can and help me support these three amazing charities. Thank you.
