Help Big Kitten Beat Cancer!

Donation protected

After a year of misdiagnosed symptoms, I've learned that Big Kitten has large cell lymphoma. This is an aggressive cancer, but because of it's location it has a high success rate, a high possibility of remission and if treated appropriately, Big Kitten has an excellent chance to live out her normal life span. She is still playing and cuddling, has not lost any weight or otherwise shown signs of decline, so she is in very good shape to get well!

It's already cost $3000 for treatments and diagnostics that ruled out everything else before a cancer diagnosis was made. Evidently the kind of cancer she has, in the location she has it (nasal) accounts for >1% of cat cancers, so the vets did not think cancer was a likely explanation for her symptoms. Leave it to my cat to be a difficult case.

To make matters more difficult, her care has been put off repeatedly because of her doctor going on vacation, another taking leave, the CT machine at the oncologist breaking, in addition to the months and months of misdiagnoses. So time is of the essence here.

Here's the thing: I love Big Kitten with all my heart. Ever since she jumped in my car one night after being left abandoned on the side of the road, she has been with me through some of the roughest times of my life. Dealing with end of life care and the deaths of my grandmother and father and all the emotional and material complications that came with it, my own sicknesses and injuries, and so much more. She's been my rock. I am devoted to this little grey angel and it would devastate me to not be able to do absolutely everything I can to keep her around as long as possible. She is my family and my best friend. I've had a lot of pets in my life but never a bond quite like this.

In addition to the costs already incurred, Big Kitten will need upwards of $6000 worth of treatment, or more.

It's a lot, I know. I'm not sure yet if she's a good candidate for radiation or if we'll have to do chemo. Radiation has an extremely high success rate, but chemo has good results too.

Either way, these treatments are costly and will require me to put a lot of miles on my trusty '94 Camry, as cat oncologists are few and far between. SO I am asking you to kick in whatever you can, if you can.

I know that there are so many worthy causes in this world to care about, but I also know that every one of us who have been lucky enough to have animals as best friends knows the bond and the trust and the love involved, and understands the feeling of wanting to do absolutely anything to protect them and keep them well. If you can relate to this and you have a couple bucks to spare to stand in solidarity with me, Big Kitten, and a fighting chance to live, I would be so appreciative.
