Big Joe Prout Family Fund

"Big" Joe Prout was taken from us too soon. Joe was the loving husband of Sarah (Hall) Prout and left her and their two children behind.

Joe was born in Waterbury, CT on September 6, 1970, son of A. David & Grazina (Melninkas) Prout. Joe attended Wilby High School and then a four-year apprenticeship program to become an ironworker. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was a proud member of the Ironworkers Local 424 in New Haven for the past 25 years. Joe was larger than life and always the life of the party. He had a terrific sense of humor and would do anything for a friend. He loved to learn about history or debate someone on philosophy; sometimes until the wee hours of the morning. His wife and children meant the world to him. Many knew him from his wild and crazy younger years (the stories are notorious) – but his life started when he met and married his wife Sarah. Their son Ethan was a blessing that changed Joe’s life into that of a father. Emily came 3 years ago and melted his heart for good; Big Joe Prout was wrapped around his little girl’s finger. Above all else, Joe loved life with his family.

We have started this fund to help Sarah, Ethan, and Emily through this difficult time and for their future. Any amount will help if you would consider donating.

In memory of Joe.
