Hi, we’re Jacquelyn and Zach—and we’re the incredibly lucky "ferrents" to two of the most fun, mischievous, and deeply loved ferrets in the world: Milton and Sully.
Milton (our little chocolate-drop, named after Milton Hershey) and Sully (our fluffy but sassy sweetheart, named after the big softie from Monsters, Inc.) have been our constant companions, comic relief, and cuddle bugs since we rescued them 5 years ago. They’ve brought so much joy and laughter into our home with their noodle-dancing, sock-stealing, and general chaos gremlin behavior. If you’ve ever met a ferret, you know they’re not just pets—they’re tiny weird geniuses in fur suits with huge personalities and even bigger hearts.
But right now, both of our boys are very sick.
Milton and Sully have both been diagnosed with insulinoma, a chronic and often terminal condition in ferrets that affects their pancreas and blood sugar. It requires twice-daily medication, constant monitoring, and a lot of emotional and financial energy. We're also heartbroken to say that Milton may have lymphoma—but testing is expensive, and we’re currently unable to afford the diagnostics that would confirm it.
We’ve been doing everything we can: managing meds, hand-feeding, staying up through the night when they’re having bad days, and rearranging our lives to make sure they’re as comfortable and loved as possible. But the vet bills are stacking up, and we’ve hit a point where we can’t keep up financially. Our household consists of one full-time nursing student and one teacher—and while we’re doing our best, this is more than we can afford alone.
The money raised will go directly toward:
Vet visits and follow-up exams
Lab work and potential imaging for Milton
Medications and emergency supplies
Supportive care to keep their quality of life high
Ferrets don’t always get the same love or understanding that dogs and cats do. But anyone who’s been lucky enough to love one knows—they are fiercely loyal, goofy, affectionate little soulmates. These boys have helped us through grief, school stress, health challenges, and some of the darkest days of our lives. They’ve taught us patience, resilience, and how to find joy in the smallest things (like a stolen slipper or a well-timed war dance).
We’ve made a promise to them: no suffering. No matter what happens, their comfort and happiness come first. But we need your help to make sure we can keep that promise. If there is any way you can help:
Donate whatever you can—every dollar matters
Share this campaign with animal lovers, vet techs, ferret fans, and anyone who believes every creature deserves a fighting chance
Send love—we feel it, and so do Milton & Sully
From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for loving two little ferrets you may never meet—but who have already left paw prints on so many hearts.
With love and gratitude,
Jacquelyn, Zach, Milton, & Sully
