Bibles for Kenyan Young People

Pastor Mike Brawan of Metro Church in Nakuru, Kenya has been hosting huge crowds of kids weekly who are attending children's church each Saturday. Numbers of children has grown weekly from about 500 to a few thousand. He has a large group of trained workers who are helping him each week. In addition to the program they provide, the children are also receiving lunch at the church.

The teachers are encouraging the children to read their Bibles. The problem is, most of their families cannot afford to purchase a Bible.  Pastor Mike tells me that many children from age 10 can read and write and good Bibles are available in Kenya for $2. US. Just for comparison, $2. US will feed a child for an entire week. In order for a child to go to school they need uniforms and shoes which cost $40. US for an entire school year. So you can see that $2. for a Bible is out of reach for most.

We are so blessed here in America. Most of us have multiple copies of the scriptures in our homes. What value do you place on the Word of God? If you didn't have even one copy, how much would you pay to purchase one?
