As a War Artist Painter and Producer of the video series Brothers in Arms (BIA), my Mission is to be a “Guardian of the Memory.” I consider it a great honour and a privilege to share my talents in creating Art Work that highlights the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of our glorious Veterans. For this purpose I am inviting you to participate in an original commemorative project about the First Special Service Force (FSSF). This project will have two facets; First we will produce a captivating video series about the extraordinary feat of arms of the Devil’s Brigade in Italy. This video series will serve as the reference material and inspiration to create a new original painting of the Force in action that will be unveiled at the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Menton Day in December 2019.
Our goal is to deploy on the battlefields of Italy, where the FSSF fought and forged their legendary reputation as the “Black Devils”. By walking in their footsteps while recording and documenting our journey in a video series (BIA) it will provide me the inspiration and knowledge needed to create a painting that will be authentic in every detail, and true to the uniqueness, bravery and tenacity of the Devil’s Brigade.
In order to implement a project of such a magnitude, I have called upon old Brothers in Arms with whom have served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Our team will include a Logistics Expert, a Drone Pilot for aerial imagery and movie editing skills, a ground cameraman who resides in Italy, and myself as the producer, director and anchor of the series. We will also call for the assistance of a well respected historian who resides in Italy and will guide us in the field.
As mentioned above, the proposed project is composed of two elements that are interdependent as far as the artistic creation is concerned. However, they will be financed separately. The video series BIA will be financed through a NON PROFIT Fund Raising Campaign with the objective to raise a Deployment Fund of $10 000.00 (CAD). This amount will cover the expenses incurred to deploy the four men filming crew to Italy, for a period of seven days. On the other hand, my profit income will be generated from the sale of the Original Painting and its reproductions that will be available for purchase independently of the video series.
To show our gratitude for their contributions to BIA, the name of every Sponsor will be included in the generic roll (Credits) at the end of each episode of the series, and, the Logo of the Corporations, Units, or Associations that will qualify at the level of Corporate Sponsors will appear at the beginning of each Episode. Additionally, we will develop a variety of promotional products that will be offered to our Sponsors as a token of appreciation for joining our community of “Guardians of the Memory”.
