Up from the Ashes

The CZU Lightning Complex fires took many homes in Santa Cruz, one of which belonged to our dear friend and co-worker, Amy. Amy is one of the most honest, hardworking, fun-loving people you will ever meet. Although an interior designer by trade, she has been working at Pacific Elementary School while her daughter attends the school and has quickly become invaluable.

Her family was living in Big Basin nestled near Waddell Creek when the fires began. They were told they were likely safe based on where their house was in relation to the fires. By the next day, they started noticing fire coming down their side of the ridge and it was time to leave. Much time, love, and care was spent making that house a home.

Her family has taken this life-changing event in stride, but they could use some financial love to help replace all that was lost.  In all of this, she continues to say "Someone must need the help more than us." She would never ask for help, so her co-workers at Pacific Elementary School are doing that for her. If you are blessed with surplus, please consider sending some love their way so that it may help off set some cost of replacing the items lost.
