Bhakti's Health Expenses

Message from Bhakti:

Hello Everyone
Many of you have seen my FB posts and know that since my initial GIST diagnosis 2 years ago, my health has been restored to "feeling great and full of energy."  The Gleevec targeted medicine worked very well, but now the effectiveness has been reduced.  A recent CT scan revealed all tumors remain small, except one rogue tumor which had rapid growth from 2.3cm to 8.5cm in only 3 months. That discovery requires immediate surgery. I'm feeling optimistic as I have an oncologist surgeon that has performed many similar surgeries.

I am having this major surgery on Tuesday April 16, 2019. The goal to excise all GIST abdominal tumors attached to the mesentary and omentum. Thankfully, no tumors are attached to any organs. I will be at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento for around 5 days, then home in Auburn.

Once the tumors are out, the goal is to have another targeted medicine to continue to fight any new tumor growth and allow many more years of life.  Live personalized cytometric profiling looks at what medicine will be most effective for me. Unfortunately, most genomic tests are limited and oncologists are reduced to standard of care medications that may work. As I have learned from my excellent weekly cancer group, each person's body is unique even with the same diagnosis. Thus, every approach to restoring health must be geared toward the individual not standard of care.

My surgeon will be sending live cells to the Weisenthal Cancer Center test for which drug(s) actually kills my particular cancer cells. The testing, not covered by any insurance, costs $8,800. I'm crowdfunding for the fees and I'm thankful for any contributions you can make to my GoFundMe account. They are charging my credit cards for payment. Big credit card debt is scary when annual income is almost the same as the debt.

In addition, I have been seeing an Integrative Doctor (in the Sutter system) who has me on a specific supplement/mineral/enzyme program determined from blood tests. I attribute much of my feeling great to that program. This cost not covered by insurance, takes all of my discretionary income each month. As we know, insurance covers pharmaceutical medicines but not supplements and preventative health approaches. The amount averages about $250 a month. Any donated funds above the Weisenthal Test will go towards ongoing supplement expenditures.

I love all my friends across the country, often following you on FB, Messinger, Messages, and e-mail, even at a distance. I remember you all individually as being inspiring, valuable, and heartening to me in many ways. People who cross our paths over the years, are significant from a soul growth perspective and Friends are special. I value your friendship and support. Any financial donations will be MUCH appreciated.
