Isaiah's Medical Fund

Donation protected
I am writing this on behalf of my nephew Isaiah and his parents. Isaiah is a vibrant and loving 13 year old. He has been a type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent) since he was 3 years old. In November 2013, shortly before his 13th birthday he was diagnosed with several autoimmune issues with no known cause or origin. He has been hospitalized numerous times since November 2013, spending Thanksgiving and Christmas going through multiple medical procedures.

The local medical team decided that Isaiah's illness was due to systematic autoimmune dysfunction. They were unable to determine a diagnosis and therefore he was referred to the best immunologist group in the country at National Jewish Research Hospital, located in Denver, Colorado. Isaiah and his mother traveled to Colorado in January 2014 for the first visit and consultation with this group of doctors. The specialists have informed Isaiah and his parents that the multiple symptoms he experiences have not previously been identified collectively as a named disease. At this time there is no known diagnosis for the group of autoimmune processes, and no cure.

Isaiah currently endures weekly blood draws, immunosuppressant therapy, and IVIG infusions two days a week, every four weeks. Each infusion is 5-6 hours long. Since November he has endured many invasive tests and procedures. He received a long period of steroid therapy with harsh side effects. As to be expected this is a lot for a 13 year old to go through. He has faced these adversities with tremendous courage and a positive attitude.  Due to illness, hospitalizations, and out of town medical consultations he missed over 30 days of school.

Isaiah must return to Colorado periodically for evaluation and testing to monitor the multiple disease processes. The care and attention that Isaiah requires cannot be provided locally in Arizona. Isaiah's illness has been difficult for the entire family. In addition to the emotional stress, it has also created a financial hardship. Besides the cost of healthcare, medications, and treatments etc there is the cost of travel to and from Colorado periodically. Isaiah and his family are traveling to Colorado the week of July 14th for additional evaluation and testing that cannot be provided locally in Arizona.

We are grateful for the numerous people that are praying for him and his family.  Isaiah and his family would be very appreciative of any financial assistance you can offer.

You may contact me with any questions.

Thank you on behalf of Isaiah and his family.
