We want to share an exciting update on our family!!
In the late summer of 2016 God placed adoption on Heather’s heart. She prayed about it and shared her heart with me. I was interested, and we began to pursue information about international adoption. After God placed this dream in front of us we began to see how this lined up with our vision and feelings we had for our family. We had complete peace about this decision but uncertain of the unknown. After a year and a half of lots of paperwork and appointments we will soon be traveling to Costa Rica to meet our three beautiful girls!! They are sisters and 6, 8, and 12 years old. They don’t speak any English. We would love to share more details but for right now that is the most we can share until they are our girls permanently. This has been a crazy and long journey of trusting everything to God who provided and continues to provide so faithfully. We have so much love for these girls already!!
We have been quiet about our journey for a long time and are slowly sharing with others. We feel the Holy Spirit is telling us that if we keep this journey to ourselves how then can we share with others who may be interested in pursuing adoption for their family? We tend to get “comfortable” in our daily lives because being comfortable is safe. International adoption is expensive and unpredictable!! We feel God didn’t call us to be comfortable or complacent. He speaks clearly in James that we are to take care of the widows and orphans and we want to be obedient. We know this will be HARD and days will be long, but these girls are so worth it! We have no idea what the future holds but we know two things: 1. God will never leave us or forsake and 2. We are forever changing the trajectory of our new daughters’ lives because we said yes to them. This yes will impact their lives and the generations to come forth from them. We give God the glory on all of this!
This journey has been a costly one for our family ($40-50,000!). We have worked hard to save money and pay for most of the adoption. We still need to cover the travel expenses. Costa Rica requires both of us to be in their country for 5-7 consecutive weeks! We are bringing all of our children with as we want to experience the first moments of our forever family together. We have had people ask about helping us out financially on this journey as the financial burden has been heavy. We feel the Lord is laying on our hearts that we have not because we ask not. We are humbly laying out our needs and asking. If you feel led to give we would be so grateful.
Most importantly we covet your prayers for our family as God so lovingly knits us together into a new and larger family and for His provision for every detail. We are very excited!!
