Better than Potato Salad! :)

Hellooooooooo!!! :)

I'm gonna try to keep this short. In 2014 millions of folks around the world are struggling to live to varying degrees. I happen to be one of those people. I live in the U.S. and have been unemployed since the end of December. I'm a grad student in New York City (though not taking classes at the moment) and for the past few months I have been struggling to pay my rent and other expenses (toiletries, transportation, OTC medications, etc.) while I continue looking for work. As far as rent is concerned, I looked at social services, local charities, churches, non-profits and others but, because of my unique living situation, I have continued to hit a wall in that regard. So, while I continue looking for work, I have been looking for oddjobs (the kind of stuff you search for on Craigslist) and enlisting the help of friends, mentors, and acquaintances to donate to help me out. Because of the overwhelming generosity I have experienced, I was able to pay off my June rent, but I still owe money for July and, as you know, August will be here before you know it. I've had one person give as little as $5 and another as much as $400, but EVERY little bit helps, so I am beyond grateful for every cent I get, especially in these hard times. I am earning my Master's in Adolescent Education (if all goes well, should be graduating in May 2015) and my career goals are both to be a screenwriter and to, in some way, be an educator and work with youth and young adults. I'm not a slacker but, like many of us, I have fallen on hard times and am just asking for a bit of help while I continue trying to find more steady income. If you cannot give, believe me *I understand*, but if you are able, I would more than appreciate it. I know that if I had the funds and the tables were turned I would have helped out those who have helped me so far in a HEARTBEAT, and I look forward to the day that I am able to pay the kindness and generosity I have experienced forward.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I'm not offering to record myself making potato salad (although I totally could!), but hopefully y'all think helping someone stay afloat while they try to make it in this world is a more worthy cause than helping someone raise WAY more than what they need to prepare a side dish. ;)

Oh and, whether you give or not, feel free to check me out on Facebook (Yes, this is my real name and it's a public account!), Twitter, and Instagram (@writersdelite for both). :)
