Help me become a Nurse :)!

Hi, my name is Anny Lima, and first and foremost I would like to say thank you for reading my story…

I am starting this GoFundMe so that I can pay my University tuition, in Spain. I am currently enrolled in the Universidad Cardenal Herrera de Elche, with a goal to major in Nursing. I'm in my second year of the career but I just moved to Spain because of the COVID-19 flying restrictions; so I did all my first year completely online.

I have always wanted to study nursing, it is my dream to work in the health field, and I have always felt a devotion to help others. Since I was little, I learnt that if I wanted something, I had to work for it, which is why I have been working since I was 15 years old, so that someday I would be able to provide for my own career, as well as transportations and any other materials that I required for my own studies, which I intended to carry on in Venezuela, my home country. Due to my own efforts and dedication, I managed to get a spot in the Universidad Central de Venezuela, in the career of Pharmacy. Throughout the first two years of my career, I managed to overcome the obstacles that meant to study in Venezuela, without the proper materials, lack of professors, and insecurity within the same university. However, the situation in my home became more and more difficult to put aside, which meant that I had to drop off college and work full time, to help provide for my family. In the ended I started to look past the frontiers, and into other countries.

I’ve always dreamed of becoming a nurse, and ever since I learned about my father’s health conditions it’s been a motivator to work harder towards my goal. When I was little, my dad was always there for me, especially when I was sick. He’d sit with me, and play nurse until I felt better. He is an amazing father. Now, I would like to return the favor, and become an actual nurse so I can not only do what I love, but also help someone that I love more than anything else. However, I still need to provide for my family, and pay for my dad’s doctors and medicines which I do because I love him, and because I want to help him get better.

I was able, and lucky, to move the United States, 3 years ago, where I worked as an AuPair. Thanks to this job, I managed to save up, to be able to help my parents, who are still living in Venezuela, and at the same time, I managed to start studying again in Spain, which is where I am currently enrolled, studying nursing. However, as a foreigner it is difficult to get a job in another country, especially with the pandemic COVID-19; and although I have been looking really hard for a job, it has not been possible. I work online and the money I get is only enough to cover rent, food and transportantion expenses.

This is why your help would be received with the most grateful heart; you would not only be helping me cover my study expenses, but also fulfilling my long life dream of becoming a nurse, become a health care provider. Hola, mi nombre es Anny Lima, y primero que nada quiero agradecerte por leer mi historia…

Estoy comenzando esta campaña de GoFundMe para poder pagar mi matrícula universitaria en España. Actualmente estoy estudiando en la Universidad Cardenal Herrera en Elche, con la meta de graduarme en la carrera de enfermería. Estoy cursando mi segundo año, y apenas me mude a España debido a las restricciones de viaje en relación al COVID-19; culmine mi primer año completamente online.

Siempre he querido estudiar enfermería, ha sido siempre mi sueño el trabajar en el campo de la salud, y he tenido siempre un sentimiento de devoción hacia los demás. Desde que era pequeña, aprendí que si quería obtener algo debía trabajar por ello, que es la razón por la cual he estado inmersa en el campo laboral desde que tengo 15 años, para así algún día poder pagar mi carrera universitaria, así como también el transporte y los diferentes materiales que requiero para estudiar, todo esto con la idea de que iba a poder estudiar en Venezuela, mi país natal.

Gracias a mi continuo esfuerzo y dedicación, logre ser admitida en la Universidad Central de Venezuela en la carrera de Farmacia. Durante los primeros dos años de mi carrera, pude sobreponerme a los diferentes obstáculos que supone estudiar en un país como Venezuela: sin los materiales apropiados, una baja considerable en profesores, y la inseguridad no solo en las calles sino también dentro de la misma institución. Sin embargo, la situación en mi hogar se convirtió cada vez más y más difícil de dejar a un lado, lo que implicó que debí dejar mis estudios y dejar la universidad, para así poder proveer para mi familia. Finalmente decidí mirar más allá de nuestras fronteras y hacia otros horizontes.

Siempre he soñado con convertirme en una enfermera, y cuando nos enteramos de las condiciones de salud de mi papá, ha sido un motivador para trabajar más arduamente hacia mis metas. Cuando era pequeña, mi papá siempre estuvo allí para mi, especialmente cuando me enfermaba. Él solía sentarse conmigo por horas, y pretendía ser un enfermero para ayudarme a sentirme mejor. Es y ha sido siempre y padre ejemplar, increíble. Ahora, quisiera poder regresarle ese favor, y convertirme realmente en una enferma no solo para poder hacer lo que amo, sino para poder también ayudar más eficazmente a alguien que amo más que a nada en el mundo. Sin embargo, sigue recayendo en mi la responsabilidad de proveer para mi familia, y cubrir los diferentes gastos que requiere mi papá, que lo hago con todo el amor del mundo, y porque quisiera ayudarlo a que se sienta mejor.

Fui capaz, y corrí con la suerte, de poderme mudar a los Estados Unidos hace 3 años y trabajar allí como AuPair. Gracias a este trabajo, logré ahorrar, ayudar a mis padres, quienes aún viven en Venezuela, y al mismo tiempo, logré retomar mis estudios esta vez en España, en donde estoy actualmente estudiando enfermería y ahora residiendo. Sin embargo, como extranjero y estudiante, es muy difícil encontrar empleo en otro país, sumándole a eso las medidas gubernamentales implementadas por el coronavirus; y aunque he estado activamente buscando un trabajo, no he logrado conseguir ninguno. El único ingreso con el que cuento es a través de mi trabajo online, del cual solo recibo lo suficiente para cubrir mi renta, comida y transporte.

Es por esto que tu ayuda es recibida con el más profundo agradecimiento; no estarías ayudándome nada más a cubrir mis gastos estudiantiles, también a ayudarme a cumplir mi sueño de vida de convertirme en enfermera.
