Work Hard, Get Better!

In February of 2013, my boyfriend of 3 ½ years, Matthew Karlovec, was diagnosed with a rare case of viral encephalitis. Before this, Matt was very independent. He had graduated college, received his Bachelor’s Plus, and was working full-time in a Kindergarten classroom with students diagnosed with Autism. Matt was even coaching baseball for the Freshman team at Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio. As of now, Matthew’s life is of complete dependency. He is working hard to walk again, as he is bound to a wheelchair or recliner for most of his day. He has neuropathy in his right leg and cannot feel where his foot is landing. He is continuing to practice his speech, as his speech was greatly affected with the encephalitis. Matt's brain gets tired very easily, as he is trying to relearn everything. All five of his senses were affected, and they are all heightened. Matt has a strong faith, and anyone who knows him can tell you what a positive person he is! Currently, Matt is being denied the speech, physical, and occupational therapy he needs to continue to get better. He is currently receiving accupuncture to help with muscle relaxation. We are paying out-of-pocket for all his medical necessities. Please help us raise money so Matt can continue to be the kind, loving "teddy bear" everyone knows! 

Matt's five big goals to accomplish are:

3.) Teach kindergarten 
4.) Coach baseball
5.) Drive a car
