Love Knows No Distance

Two years ago, I was tucking our son in bed on his first night home.  He was smiling so big, that his eyes were shut.  I said, " That's a very big smile!"
He replied, " Every night I prayed for a Mama and Dad to pick me, and God answered my prayer!"
My heart melted. 
But as I laid in bed I wondered how many children are out there, lying in their bed, praying for a Mama and Daddy to choose them? How long will they pray before they give up hope? What if no one ever chooses them?  We bgan to pray as a family for the older children aging out on an advocacy site. 
We advocated. 
We prayed. And we watched as one by one they aged out, never chosen.  
Every case broke my heart, but none more that the little girls with Downs Syndrome.  Maybe because two little girls with Downs Syndrome have already stolen my heart.  Their love and joy bless my life every day.  The world is brighter because they exist. 
Sometimes there is no perfect time. 
Sometimes all the details are not lined up.  
Sometimes we just have to act on where God leads our heart. 
In Feburary we took that leap of faith.
As with every adoption its been a journey. 
As we figured out the remaining cost to travel to get our daughter, the number was the same as the miles between us and her. 
We would love for her to be home for Christmas.  She has spent the past 13 years in an orphanage.  This Christmas we want her to get the gift of a family,  the gift of love....and no distance is too great for love.
