Hello everyone! This is Mark's story, I will do my best to get it right.
Mark was first diagnosed with a rare type of Lymphoma 1.5 years ago. After battling it twice with a warrior's victory, he was recently diagnosed for the 3rd time. Like the previous times, it came back as Stage 4.
Mark has been under going chemo treatments at U of M. He was admitted into the hospital with super high, life threatening calcium levels. While there, he had a bout of pneumonia. He was going to be released today or tomorrow. Just as he was starting to feel a little better, his body went into septic shock. The cancer and the chemo have made his immune system incredibly weak.
He is currently in the ICU on a ventilator. Mark was fighting the ventilator and trying to breath on his own so they needed to paralyze him so the ventilator could do it's job. They plan on keeping him paralyzed until they can safely bring him back. He also has an infection on the backside of his lungs. Because of the infection, they have him laying on his stomach for 16 hours at a time, then off for 8 hours. They are doing this for the next 48 hours. It is also important for them to decrease his blood pressure meds slowly so that he remains stabilized.
The doctors say that he should be in the ICU for the next week- week and a half minimum. He has a long road to recovery.
These funds will be used to serve a couple things...
1. To help pay for flights and such, to get Mark's kids home to see him
2. To help Mark financially once he is released from the hospital. It will be a while before he is able to get on his feet and back to work.
Anything you can give will truly mean the world to Mark and his family!! The sooner you donate, the sooner we can get his kids home. Mark is one of the kindest people I know and from what I have seen, he would give anyone the shirt off his back. Our goal is to do something nice for him to make this very difficult time a little better. Thank you so very much!!
