Beverly's Neurological Needs

My little family has known so many blessings that when things go wrong they appear to be huge in our eyes and they normally aren't your run of the mill problems, either.  We strive to always move forward.  We have had to learn to be humble in the face of tragedy and adversity. We have had to learn to that its ok not to be ok and that it is ok to lean on others if the load is too heavy.  Our faith continues to be tested and with God's help and acknowledgement of His ultimate plan we can wake up each morning and continue to move.  With each prayer we pray we acknowledge that there is a true God and that He wants us in His family, but the journey won't be and hasn't been easy.  Our newest trial surrounds Beverly.  This summer we were called back to NC for one of the saddest times in our lives.  While there we decided to have check ups, medical, dental and vision.  The vision appointment for Beverly (our oldest daughter now)  took a turn quickly.  Beverly, 15, is the second of four girls (the oldest Emilee passed away from Leukemia four years ago.) Bevs had been having headaches, but she never really mentioned how bad they were.  The optometrist stated that she could see that she had a headache because her optic nerves were severely swollen and that she needed to be seen by a doctor ASAP. She was given a diagnosis of Bilateral Papilladema.  An emergency MRI gave a second diagnosis of Developmental Venous Anamoly and four small spots on the top of her brain that are not identified as of yet.  This will warrant several trips back to North Carolina from Alaska.  The first of these trips back to North Carolina will be in December.  We will travel to Brenner's Children's Hospital to the Neurological Center on December 11, 2017 and we will stay in North Carolina for approximately a month.  The reason to go to North Carolina from Alaska is that the centers in Alaska could not see nor treat Beverly until much later next year and the centers in Seattle were weight listed until March as well.  As the girls grew up in North Carolina their family doctor is also located there.  The ability to determine what those spots are and quickly and to help fix the Bilateral Optic Swelling quickly determines procedures and treatments and quality of life for Beverly.  These trips will be expensive for our family of five, with one income.  We will need to be able to pay for airfare, continue to pay our bills and pay for the medical care once there.  This first trip will cost us several thousand dollars for airfare, rental car and medical costs and lodging and food.  These funds will allow us to be able to get Beverly back to her doctors and to get the treatment that is necessary.  Our family thanks all who read this and pass it on and those we can and do give in order to help our family and our daughter.
