My mother is Elizabeth "Betty" Graves.  She has had to much tragedy for one person to bare all in less than a year.

I should have done this sooner, but my main concern has been my mom's recovery. Now that she is doing better health wise, it is time to address the rest.

Last year on July 15, my mother lost her husband of 45 years. So she did what one does in that situation, she started to road of grieving and trying to make sense of everything. Anyone who has lost someone knows that it is a hard and slow road. She was getting there.

Now that takes us to Easter Sunday 2020 and the tornadoes that ripped across Mississippi. More to the point, ripped through her home while she was still inside. The tornado lifted her home up into the air and slammed it back to the ground 40 yards away. There was nothing left of her home but a pile of rubble. She also was lifted, with her little dog, up and slammed to the ground right next to that pile of rubble. A true miracle that she was still alive. Sadly her little dog, Chewy did not survive. Her vehicle was also destroyed by the tornado. She suffered a ruptured spleen (which had to be removed in an emergency surgery), fractured lower leg, fracture to her vertebrae in her neck, fracture collar bone, fracture to her shoulder and to many cuts and bruises to count. Again a true miracle she survived.

That brings us to now. Now she has to try to put her life back together from nothing. No home to go to, just the knowledge that God protected her and now she must move forward down a long hard road again. I don't know that I would be able to start from nothing and rebuild my life. She has no choice, so it begins.

She had insurance on her home and vehicle, but we all know that it never is enough to replace all that is lost. She has to make up the difference.  Not to mention the medical bills from the weeks of hospital and rehab she had to have. It all could be overwhelming for anyone. She is not just anyone to me. That is my one and only mother.  So I am trying to help anyway I can.  So, I am asking that if you feel lead by your heart and have the ability to donate, please do. Anything will help take some of this off her.

I will also state, that I understand that a lot of people were affected by the tornadoes that struck that day.  I do not fault anyone for wanting to help as many people as possible. So if you feel that donating to The Red Cross or some other relief effort is better, then please do.  All I ask is you share this with as many as you can. Share her story.

But if you want to help my mom, Betty Graves, and become part of her story of recovery, then please donate what you can spare.

Thank you to everyone that has already helped in some way.

May God Bless You.
