Gail and I have been so overwhelmed with love. The love of all our friends and family. The love of God is so immense. Our home is full of joy tonight.

Betty died December 21st around 4PM in Seattle. We woke up on Wednesday morning and she was wrapped in her blanket and unable to breath. We tried so hard to save her. She was flown to Seattle Children’s and fought for another day, but… we lost her. We held her as she was removed from life support. We sang the doxology to her as we handed her to Christ. It was such an honor for us. We were so blessed to hold her hand and sing to her as she left our arms and entered Christ’s embrace.

Everyone. We love you all so much.

We are so sad, but we are so joyful. She didn’t die. She is more alive than ever. We are looking forward to the resurrection of the dead. And although we will mourn bitterly, we will not mourn as those who have no hope.

Don’t give in to despair. Hold your children tight. Praise the Lord with your family. Thank God for this blessing. We can literally rejoice. God loves us all. God only gives us good things. God took Betty so that His kingdom would advance and so that we would be more conformed to Christ.

James told the Jewish Christians who were dispersed across the world, and it applies to us as well, that they should “consider it all joy when we face trials of various kinds, because the testing of our faith will produce steadfastness”.

We are making our arrangements, and we will share all the details when we have them. Enjoy Christmas. We will have a celebration of life after Christmas day has passed. Remember, Christ came because death had to be defeated, and peace had to be made between God and man. Because Christ was born unto us, and laid down his life, Betty can stand with her Lord.

O come, thou day spring, come and cheer our spirits by thine advent here
And drive away the gloomy clouds of night, forever death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
