Better Than a Paycheck

This kind of chair keeps people sane. Brings relief and relaxation to so many. This chair should never be empty. Unfortunately right now, they are.  When the chair is empty, something inside is empty also for your hairstylist's heart. Since 2003 I have been one of these hairstylists. I say to this day, it's the best job I could have ever chosen. Being a part of this industry feeds my soul, feeds my children, and allows me to infiltrate a little happiness into my community. I love rooting for other stylists and encouraging them to build the career they dream of. This eventually led to expanding my business to actually support these professionals with an education facet. The education I saw missing was how to find more fulfilment in their lives outside of the salon too.  WE NEED YOUR HELP.  Every client we have is going through one of the toughest times of their lives. We are also sitting here, unable to help. Unable to heal people the way we are so intrinsically able to do.  Trust me when I say we are missing the opportunity to have our hands in part of the healing process we all face.  I am blessed beyond measure to have awakened on how else I can spread happiness and healing throughout the world. My education company's first product is an online resource for Hairstylist's to find ways to self-care more so our tank is full when we take care of YOU.  In order for this program to get into as many professionals hands as can happen, I am creating this campaign to raise money for scholarships that YOUR HAIRSTYLIST can use to take more care of themselves in this unexpected time off. Donations will also go to immediately getting a live version of this program into the computers and smartphones of the stylists while there is time to begin their journey of care instead of unraveling into a deep sadness. The majority of professionals work on commission or are 100% self-employed. This means there is likely NO CASH-FLOW into their business during this time. It is a hard decision to sacrifice their paychecks and not be able to heal the world one client at a time. These professionals emotionally heal people. They are some of the most important people in your life when you are going through your most important moments. Your graduations, weddings, kids, celebrations, memorials, birthdays. There is hardly a time when someone wouldn't feel better by going to your hairstylist and having your hair done. You see, one of the best jobs ever!  In this trying time, we are not being called upon for our healing powers. We are asked and told, required even, to step down. To go home. To sit and wait... also, to not get paid.  It is in this time that I find it more of an urgent emergency than ever for Hairstylist's to do a little self-care. We are sad. We are hurting. We are going to be on the brink of anxiety and depression IF we can't see beyond the lost opportunity and TAKE THE NOW OPPORTUNITY to find moments in our days that are BETTER THAN A PAYCHECK.  I personally am finding these moments in my time with my two children as we speak. Taking a couple of seconds to document with some pictures, then putting the phone away. Allowing myself to be unplugged more than my normal business juggling mama self usually stays. This is my mission. Has been the goal of my education company the whole time I started with the new business idea. Now, more than ever, I want every Hairstylist to be able to find these moments. To not be 'someone's hairstylist' but a beautiful human soul searching and finding the best parts of themselves. Digging deep. Finding the passions that have been put on the shelf for too long. This is the only way I see us coming back to your hair better than ever. Having experienced these days that are SOOOOOO much BETTER THAN A PAYCHECK. At this time, GoFundMe is launching the Small Business Relief Initiative to support our friends and neighbors at local businesses facing financial loss from the pandemic. As a part of the Initiative, the Small Business Relief Fund will be issuing $500 matching grants to qualifying businesses that raise at least $500 on GoFundMe.  I see this as a brilliant time to give back to your Hairstylist. Give back to the industry that heals people every single day of the week.
