Hurricane Harvey Relief-Betke Six

So many are affected by Hurricane Harvey at this point, and I am wondering how much more is still to come. I have watched these storms on TV in years past and even stayed at my own home in Summerville, SC during Hurricane Matthew last year. Harvey has been different for me. I have watched, as have many of you, from the comfort of my living room, in horror and weeping as countless brave people go in and rescue people----people like my sister and her family this time.
As you well know, Harvey has been a slow, ruthless storm; but Shay and Hendrik (Dutch) Betke, and their four children(Laney, Hunter, Christian, and Brady) and two dogs were in his path. They have weathered many storms in Katy, TX and had minimal damage. They believed this would be bad but could have never imagined what has happened...as with so many of their neighbors, friends, and community members.
This morning at 1AM, they were able to get a boat rescue from their home (flooded with 3 feet of water) and are SAFE-we are so THANKFUL. With the continued rain thru the rest of this week as well as the local reservoirs overflowing in Katy, it is likely that their home will be completely destroyed. They had no flood insurance-not in a designated flood zone. They had just the clothing on their backs. Their cars are most likely destroyed in the flooded garage.
This family now needs our help.
Even though they will have to start completely over, we are trying to get them some immediate relief. I set this campaign up to help Hendrik (Dutch) and Shay receive enough to cover meals for a few weeks, clothing for the whole family, and temporary housing until they can re-enter their home and assess the housing damage and begin to rebuild.
