Beth's Road to Recovery!

Donation protected
On Thanksgiving morning, Beth had a major seizure and was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Upon MRI, they found a mass on her right frontal cortex (about the size of a golf ball). It is called a meningioma which is the best kind to have if this HAS to happen! They are usually benign. While most families were celebrating Thanksgiving with their loved ones, Beth and her husband, JD, were coming to the realization that surgery was going to be Beth's only option. According to Beth's physicians at NHRMC, the mass has been present for a really long time. Although very slow growing, it just finally reached a point that it caused Beth to have a seizure. The surgeon at NHRMC that was reviewing Beth's case very kindly referred Beth to the head of Neurosurgery at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Beth will be having surgery to remove the tumor on Tuesday, December 12. Beth is expected to remain in Chapel Hill for at least a week and then she will return home to begin her road to recovery. Beth and JD are parents to three beautiful children that also happened to be home schooled. Beth is a very kind, loving, attentive Mom, but she is also very stubborn and independent. In order to make sure that Beth does not over do it, JD will be working from home to help Beth with her healing process, as well as, taking the lead in caring for their three children. JD is just as stubborn and has not asked for any help. I have had the pleasure of working with JD for many years and I have seen him and his family give their time, prayers, love and financial help to so many people in our community. JD is carrying the weight of the world right now and the timing of the holidays makes this even more difficult. They have already obtained medical expenses and with the long road of recovery that they are facing as a family, it is reasonable to expect many more expenses to fall on them personally.  In Beth's words..." My husband, JD, has been an amazing teammate and has totally stepped up and taken care of all of us!!! We have such a wonderful support system and are truly leaving this in the hands of GOD at this point! Please join us to be prayer warriors in this effort! Thanks for any extra prayers sent our way!!" As their friend, I ask you to join me in supporting Beth's Road to Recovery by giving what you can to help this sweet and incredibly kind, giving and loving  family. I know that they will appreciate it more than you could ever imagine!
