Beth's Road to Recovery

As many of you know, Beth Thompson, mother of Dylan Thompson, was in a car accident on Monday, November 13th. While traveling at a speed of 40mph, Beth collided with a tractor trailer. She was immediately transported to the Medical Center of Virginia (MCV) in Richmond, VA. There, they placed her in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
A message from Dylan onJanuary 12th, 2018:
“I would like to share with everyone an update on my mom and family. Since my mom’s horrible accident on November 13th, she has been making progress. She is now at a long term care facility where she will stay until she is able to move to a rehab facility. Monday, she got the clear from her doctor to start eating on her own again because she had been on a feeding tube since her accident. Today, she is having surgery on her elbow to reset it and place pins in it so that it can heal properly. She is going on Monday to have a CT scan so that the doctors will have a better idea of the accident’s effect on her brain. While she is aware and fully conscious, her cognition, mainly her memory and speech, has regressed.
Unfortunately, my grandma fell Monday morning and broke her wrist pretty badly, so she went under surgery to insert pins in it on Tuesday. As her main job is a bus driver, she will be unable to work or drive for 12 weeks. As she is the main one to support my great grandmother, my mother, and m, the next few months are going to be even more difficult for us. I hope that you all keep my family in your thoughts as it has been a difficult few months and it isn’t looking like things are going to get easier.
I want to express how thankful I am for everyone reaching out and supporting my family during this time. The love and support of my friends and family has given me the motivation to not give up and to keep believing that everything is going to be ok. I hope that if anyone else is suffering at this time, they are lucky enough to experience the same kindness and compassion that I have.”

Those of you who know Dylan know that he is one of the most kind, caring, and hard-working individuals that you have and will ever meet. Dylan has done more for those who surround him than we could ever do for him. When speaking with Beth, it is quite clear where he gets many of these unique characteristics.
The medical bills associated with a situation like this can be steep, and the last thing this family needs is to be stressed by these financial obligations. We have created this page in support of Dylan’s family during this devastating time.
It is difficult to see someone go through a trial like this, and it is especially difficult to see a family of such high character endure this. The least we can do is attempt to help in whatever way we can. If you are able, any size donation would be greatly appreciated to help ease the pain that this family is going through. I hope you will consider donating, and we wish Dylan, Beth, Dylan’s grandmother, and the rest of their family the best as they continue with a persistent mind down this road to recovery.
