Bethlehem Prayer Room

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

Thank you for taking the time to read our vision for the Prayer Room in Bethlehem.

There are two parts to this fundraising campaign. The first £ 3,000 raised will go directly to the Prayer Room. The remaining £ 6,000 will go towards helping the family who will be hosting the prayer room in their B and B, re-wire and re-paint their property. The property is very run down and needs a significant amount of work done.  We want to do both the prayer room and the B and B, to encourage Christian visitors to have a place to stay in Bethlehem, should they wish.

We are partnering with 24-7 Prayer and feel incredibly grateful that they will be "overseeing" this initiative.
Due to the nature of this prayer room, it will not be run on a 24-7 basis (unless you are staying in the B and B) but it will be open to individuals and groups from around the world. Once the prayer room is officially open, we will send out invitations for churches, groups and individuals to come and visit.

The vision is to encourage Christians from all over the world who visit Israel, to also visit and pray in Bethlehem. As a Christian westerner, I was inspired to create a space for other Christians from around the world, who come to visit Israel but don't feel safe to visit Bethlehem and pray.

Due to the historic significance of the location; on what was the main road linking Bethlehem with Jerusalem, and directly across from Rachel’s Tomb, we believe that in years to come, this prayer room will be seen as a historic and prophetic move of God. One that will pull down strongholds and walls and make peace possible in this region.

We believe that God is inviting us, along with others, to be bridge builders between people and communities that have been torn apart over the years and have lost a sense of hope.

Our heart is to invest into this region and to increase a Christian presence in this part of the land (the numbers of Christians living in Bethlehem alone has decreased by over 80% in the past thirty years.). We feel passionate about investing in the lives of Christians in this region and provide a space for Christian’s from around the world, to come and pray.

My first trip to the Holy land revealed to me that most Christians do not feel safe spending time in Bethlehem, let alone the Palestinian Territories. I believe that as a result, this has created a wider divide between the Christian communities on both sides of the Israeli and Palestinian Territories.

I hope that this prayer room would be a tool to bridge this gap by connecting Christian pilgrims to the native Christian community in Bethlehem.
