Bethan’s end of life fund

Donation protected

My beautiful younger sister Bethan, 19, has been battling cancer for over a year, and will not be having anymore treatment for her advanced stage of cancer.

Bethan has a rare form of cancer- Greyzone lymphoma, which has no known cure. Bethan was discussed in a world health convention, but despite this there was no positive result.  After successfully beating cancer in summer 2019, it returned a lot more fierce in November. This news has been devastating for Bethan and our family, and so detrimental to her mental health, as well as all the physical effects.

Bethan has been failed by our medical institutions in the UK, being misdiagnosed multiple times by the RUH allowing her cancer to grow to such a ferocious stage. She was even asked to choose her own chemotherapy like it was a lucky dip, as it was made clear no one had any idea what would work for her.

Chemotherapy again to Bethan would be worse than torture, and the pain and hurt is too much to bear. With her heart only working at 40% and only one fully functioning lung there are too many risks involved in this type of treatment. Bethan is using alternative medicine which is incredibly costly, over £500 a month, but is effective as pain relief for now.

After Bethan has made this decision, we were informed she only has months left with us.

It is impossible to imagine what to do with this sort of news and how to manage or cope, but we are looking to make every second of this painful experience as comfortable as possible for her.

Our own money as well as any money raised will be going towards Bethan’s care, experiences and some great memories we hope to make with her in the next few weeks. Anything left over will be used for getting some counselling and therapy for my mum, who is a single parent with a full time job who also has to battle with this situation whilst maintaining her own life.

No teenager should have to go through this. My mum and I have made it our mission to ensure Bethan is smiling and happy to the best she could be during this awful time.

Any sharing and publication is greatly appreciated.
