Bethanie Bird - Medical Fundraiser

Hello friends.
As many of you know, Bethanie Bird has been a long-time supporter of rescue and animal welfare. Her dedication to pugs, bulldogs and animals is unparalleled. Bethanie has always been there to volunteer in any way needed…fundraising for rescue groups, fostering, etc.
What you may not know is that during these years Bethanie has been fighting Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome, which is ranked as the highest form of chronic pain that exists in medical science today. It is characterized by one of the most severe levels of pain – 42 out of a possible 50 on the McGill Pain Scale which describes CRPS pain as more intense than amputation of a digit, childbirth, chronic back pain, non-terminal cancer pain, phantom limb pain and more.
Bethanie is scheduled for major surgery on March 22, 2021. They will be performing a decompression and spinal fusion of her lumbar spine L3-S1. Bethanie will remain hospitalized out of state for at least a week. They, Bethanie and her husband Scott have to arrive by the 20th of March for pre-surgery covid protocol and remain in Colorado until at least April 6th which will be her follow up appointment.
This has been an enormous struggle - medical costs, prescription medications, and Scott has been on unpaid FMLA to take care of Bethanie. The expenses have all added up, and now that a new year has begun, her annual deductible must be met once again.
The hospital pre-admission department has stated they will not proceed with the surgery unless Bethanie is able to pay for the deductible at the time of service. If not, the surgery will have to be postponed even though Bethanie is living in extreme pain, has no use of right leg and now has spinal stenosis.
The breakdown of the Financial needs for this 3 week period of time are:
1. $2,800.00 for Medical Deductible out of pocket
2. $1,100.00 for 3 week stay in hotel
3. $500.00 for 3 weeks of Food and Gas to and from Denver Co from Oklahoma City.
4. $2,600.00 toward Scott's loss of pay on FMLA; their house payment and bills still need to be made. (This is not the total amount of pay being lost)
Please consider donating anything you can. This has been and will be devastating for Bethanie and Scott to overcome, as it would anyone faced with this type of financial burden.
