Beth's Thoracic Endometriosis Care

In July, my sister Beth was diagnosed with a very rare disease which will require her to undergo surgery in September and begin a specialized treatment plan. This is a very scary and troubling time for all of us.

We have started this page as a means of relieving some of the financial burden which Beth’s family will face in the time leading up to and following her surgery:

Contributions will help her to cover:

·         The Surgery and required medical treatments not covered by insurance

·         Flights and accommodations for her husband near the hospital in Atlanta

·         Child care support for Beth’s 3 young children during her one to three month recovery

Thank you for your care and consideration! Any level of support makes a big impact.

Here is Beth’s story…

It was a surprise to all of us when Beth was admitted to the hospital in January with a collapsed lung.  Apart from some shortness of breath and chest pain, there were no warning signs.

After a second lung collapse, months of tests, x-rays, bloodwork, and multiple ER visits, Beth was diagnosed with a very rare form of endometriosis.

Endometriosis is an often-painful disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus, grows outside the uterus.  In most women, the growth of this tissue is confined to the abdomen, but in Beth’s case, the tissue has grown up into her body and surrounding her diaphragm and lungs.

This condition is called Thoracic endometriosis.

Beth is scheduled to undergo immediate surgery on September 6th at the insistence of doctors and specialists at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia, who believe the surgery is necessary for her to reduce the risk of future lung collapses and avoid long-term chronic pain.

While we are saddened by the nature of the circumstances, we are glad to have the opportunity now to shower Beth with our love and support, as she has given so much of herself unconditionally to so many people across the world in so many ways, this is our chance to give back that love and support when she and her family need it most.

If you are not able to give financially, we ask you to lift Beth and her family in your prayers and positive light.

Beth and her family would like to donate any excess funds to the Endometriosis Foundation of America which strives to increase disease recognition, provide advocacy, facilitate expert surgical training, and fund landmark endometriosis research.

With humble appreciation, thank you for your support, generosity, and love. Please check back in for updates on Beth's progress!
