Helping The Racic's

Aubrey has been in the hospital since Thursday March 3rd. Originally her parents thought that she had a line infection like she has had in the past but this time was not like the rest. Aubrey has a line infection but it is fungal instead of bacterial, meaning it is much worse. Also causing her to be septic and in septic shock. Aubrey had her central line pulled immediately and medicines were started. Saturday Aubrey was moved into the PICU because she was getting worse and 1 of the 2 IV's that she had put in on Friday were already failing. That night they were able to get a pic line placed in her groin area. Aubrey was also placed on a ventilator that night because her body was no longer able to breathe on its own and fight the infection at the same time. Aubreys blood pressure continued to drop so she had an art line placed so they could monitor it continuously without having to use the cuff. Sunday Aubrey had to have a catheter placed because she was no longer peeing on her own, her bladder would fill but she could no longer pee. With all of her blood pressure problems the gave her large quantities of fluid to try to get the blood pressure to stabilize, this resulted in her refining large amounts of water. Aubrey had a chest tube placed in her right side on Sunday because fluid was building up between her lungs and her chest cavity. On Monday another chest tube was placed on her left side because of the same issue. On Tuesday they started trying to ween down her vent and blood pressure meds and she is making progress. Sometimes in here I have learned that it's 2 steps forward and 1 step backward but the nurses and doctors assure me that's normal. She is still on the blood pressure meds along with anti fungals and antibiotics but we believe she has turned the corner. She is making progress in the right direction. She is still having fevers but they say that is normal as well with the fungal infection. We are not sure how long she will be in here, we have been told she could be on the vent for a couple weeks. Aubreys mom has had a very hard time with all of this which is to be expected, you can only be strong for so long and then you need to rest. Aubreys dad has not left her side and will not leave her side until the breathing tubes are out and she is doing better. Aubreys dad is also the breadwinner for the family and is running out of vacation time from work very quickly which is why this was started. With all the stress a ICU brings the stresses of home are still there as well. Any size of donation helps and is greatly appreciated. It is hard for Aubreys dad to ask for help of any kind but he doesn't want to have to worry about bills getting paid and wants to just be able to focus on Aubrey. Also please continue to pray for Aubrey, her mommy, her daddy and also her sisters who miss her very much and don't really understand why they can't see her.
