What happens when a life is suddenly cut short?
On Thursday, August 9th 2018 the Lanctot family gathered for one last group hug. The lion's fight Bert has been fighting since December 2017, came to an end at 1:14 PM
If love was the medicine, this illness would've been beaten. If days and nights spent by Bert's side could've postponed the end, there would have been much more time. If only kisses could have alleviated the pain…That’s how unfair life sometimes seems to be.
As we gather around Benita, Stephanie, Sebastien and Caroline to allow them the space and time to adapt to the new reality and mourn the loss of Bert as the wonderful husband and an extraordinary dad, I am following upon the idea many of you had which answers that first question; what happens when a life is suddenly cut short?
The answer: in lieu of flowers, cards or charitable donations - this page has been created.
Bert's greatest wish as a father was for him and Benita to see their children graduate from University and make their first solid steps into this world. That can still happen with the help of the caring and loving community we have become over the past 9 months.
As we are getting ready to gather - in person or in thoughts - on Sunday, September 2nd to celebrate Bert's life, there is now a way to make Bert's wish come true with every donation contributing to what he wished was his legacy.
So... What happens when a life is suddenly cut short?
We all come together and make a wish come true.
Thank you.
