Bernardston, MA Fire Station Project

The Town of Bernardston, MA is a rural community that borders the state of Vermont. In 2018 the Governor of Massachusetts signed a Bond Bill that called for $1 million in funding for the town, for construction of a new fire station. Four years later, the state government has refused to honor their word, leaving the town in a difficult situation. The existing fire station was built in 1971 and has long since outlived its usefulness. It is no longer code compliant. It can't house the numerous vehicles that are required for today's emergency responses. The town, despite the failure of state government, has continued to move forward with planning the construction project. We have done so because our town serves dozens of other communities for mutual aid. In fact, Bernardston is on first alarm call with 18 surrounding towns and second alarm for another 8 towns. This project is vital, not just for the town of Bernardston, but for our region as well. The reason for starting this GoFundMe is that without your support, this project is unlikely to happen. Without the new facility, we run the risk of not being able to adequately serve a portion of those 26 other towns that rely on Bernardston. We appreciate your consideration in donating to this cause. Thank you.
