To all of our family & friends.
There is still a part of me that can't believe that I am typing this. And I do apologize for a post of this nature, but this is the fastest way for me to reach you all, and we need every single one of your positive thoughts and prayers. As some of you may already know, on Friday 12/19 our world stopped spinning. On this day my husband, my best friend, the love of my life, and my everything in between received a diagnosis of Acute Leukemia. Our family is absolutely reeling from the shock of this news. There is not a single person who knows him and loves him this does not affect. Of course there is never a good time to get news like this, but the timing of this news has brought our family to our knees for so many reasons. It has brought us to our knees, but it WILL NOT knock us down. Since Friday we have been at the U of I for testing and to prep Steve for treatment that will start immediately. It will be here that we stay for a minimum of about a month. For everyone who knows Steve he said that this is a bump in the road, a slight detour, and a marathon he is determined to finish with all of our help and support. We are absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude to everyone who has already helped us or our families in ANY way. We truly ask nothing of anyone, except your love, support, prayers, positive thoughts, patience, and understanding as we deal with this head on and take everything one minute, hour, and day at a time. We have no idea what our new normal will be which is so scary, but we already know we have an amazing medical team, a network of family and friends that is beyond compare, and of course our growing family and so much love for everyone and each other to fight for and be thankful for every minute of every day-and believe me-we ARE. We love and appreciate you all more than our words will be able to express. Our Caring bridge page soon to come. All our love, Leslie, Steve, Dylan, & Hudson.
