Stepping into Ms.Berbawy’s classroom in Irvington High School is like stepping out of a time machine and into the future. The incredible use and organization of various tools including laser cutters, 3D printers, drones, and other devices is just awe-inspiring. With little aid and years of work, Ms.Berbawy has been able to provide these kids with some of the resources they need to explore their technological and artistic curiosities. Starting off with one corner of a classroom being designated to after school robotics and 3D printers, Ms.Berbawy has transformed her classroom into a wonderful workshop for students to code, build, and create.
Her students challenge and break the boundaries of STEM learning, creativity, and teamwork. Seeing what her students have accomplished with such limited funding is astounding and only leaves you to wonder what they could do with more. We hope to build an entire Art+STEM wing to inspire and advocate for student creativity in both artistic and technological endeavors. In the meantime, building up funding to help contribute to the resources and classroom costs would help these kids immensely in surpassing their potential and changing the world.
