Benny's Fargo Nationals

Hello, my name is Benny Martinez.  I am 16-years-old and a Junior at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, CA.  I have spent countless hours these past 6 years training to meet my goal of being able to wrestle at the collegiate level.  


This month I qualified for the California National Team.  I had to beat multiple state-qualifiers and last year’s National Team Members at this year’s Freestyle State Championships in order to qualify.  The Team will be competing at the prestigious Fargo Tournament in North Dakota this summer.  Fargo is one of the toughest wrestling tournaments in the nation.  I will be in in Fargo, North Dakota from July 13th through July 23rd training and competing. 

 
Fargo is a high-level tournament where the top wrestlers from each state compete.  Being able to compete at Fargo is a truly amazing opportunity for me to be able wrestle in front of the top college coaches & recruiters. 


This year has been an especially difficult year for my family.  My mom’s health issues have had her in and out of the hospital as well as home-bound for extended periods of time.  So money has been very tight.  In addition to my training, I am also spending my summer working to try to help pay for some of my wrestling expenses (camps & Fargo), but I need your help. 

 
There are many expenses to be able to compete in this prestigious tournament (transportation, lodging, and uniforms).  The cost of my trip is $1497.00 (includes: flights, dorms, meals, warm up top, camp and entry fees). I will also need to purchase my 2 team singlets for $180.00.  I am hoping to raise $1,600.00.

 
Please help me be able to reach my goals as a wrestler by being able to represent California at Nationals this summer.
