Tragically, on Saturday May 11, ( the day before Mother's Day ), General Manager, John King ( 32 ) of Reston VA was killed in a car accident.
In the car with John was John's 2 month old son Benjamin " Benny " and Benny's mother Elisabeth.
Both Benny and Elisabeth are in the hospital but are expected to recover, however the road to recovery will be difficult and long. After several surgeries Elisabeth is re-gaining mobility in her arm but it will be sometime before she can hold Benny independently.
John was the General Manager of the Reston Town Center Panera Cafe for the past 2 Years. Prior to joining Panera he created great learning environments and successful teams with Roy Rogers as a Training General Manager in Maryland. John was a graduate of Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maryland.
John's positive attitude , relentless passion for developing people and drive to create a great environment for his associates and guest will be deeply missed. John always had a smile on his face and was always thinking about his team and café. He was an outstanding operator but an even greater human being. He is described by many as always willing to lend a helping hand. In the recent days since John’s sudden passing, many associates are reminiscing, recalling stories of how John has touched their lives by adding humor, fun and care to all of those he worked with. He will be greatly missed by all.
John's primary love and passion centered around Elisabeth and his newborn son "Benny". John's love for his work and people was only surpassed for the love of his young family. Benny and Elisabeth will have a long road to recovery. The hospital expenses will pile up quickly, and child care will be challenging. Many people that had the pleasure to know John, have asked " How can I help Benny and Elisabeth?"
We have set up this Go Fund Me Account to be used to help John's Family during this difficult time and for Benny's future education.
