Fire Relief For E. Bennett, M. La Tour & Family

At 2 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, my stepdad Ezra Bennett awoke to the sound of flames in our family’s home. He instantly woke up my mom, Melissa La Tour, the kids, Hazel, Walter, Leo, and Marjorie, Digoo the dog, and Pixie the cat. Everybody made it out of the house safely, and roughly an hour after arriving, the Duluth Fire Department was able to put the blaze out. Some very generous neighbors provided a warm, safe place to figure out what to do next. Unfortunately, the top two floors of the house were severely damaged by the fire, and the rest of the house has water damage from fighting it. It is now uninhabitable, and we are only able to return to retrieve items for short periods at a time. The majority of items in the house were lost. The insurance company has been notified, but the reimbursement takes a long time. Our family has immediate needs that can’t wait until the claim process goes through. All proceeds from this GoFundMe will go directly to Ezra and Melissa to provide for our family as we work toward a new normal. Thank you so much.
