Bennett's Eagle Scout Project

My name is Bennett Turan, I am 13 years old. I joined Mariemont Boy Scout Troop 149 in 2016. My main goals for scouting have been to have fun, and become an Eagle scout.  My parents have always supported me. I joined Cub Scouts in 1st grade, since then I have been through every rank except Eagle. Some of my favorite scouting experiences are ziplining at Camp Kern, and going caving at Marengo Caves. Scouting teaches me to be a be a better person, and live by the scout law everyday. Every year our troop sells Christmas trees to pay for later troop outings. It’s hard work, but we love it.


The Eagle Scout project that I have decided on is an outdoor classroom. The classroom will be located at Mariemont Junior High School. The classroom will help to encourage critical thinking, give teachers and students more learning environments, and be built so students and teachers can interact with each other. The science teachers will be able to do labs revolving around the outdoors. The classroom will consist of a teacher’s table, four benches connected, and flagstone on the ground to allow students to write/ sit if the class is bigger. The benches will be moveable for landscape purposes.
