Songsters & Songcatchers

Donation protected

Earlier this year, through the generosity of numerous backers—both friends and strangers—we raised funds allowing us to travel along the Mississippi River and interview over a dozen people about their lives and the state of their music.

Looking to 2016, we are releasing the fruits of that labor; unveiling 2 full-length albums, and a feature length documentary.

This past fall, we were chosen to represent the Washington Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January of 2016. With our travel expenses covered by the Blues Society, and our photographer willing to donate his time, we find ourselves with the opportunity to follow up on the work we started, and interview the people who we missed during our first trip through Mississippi. Panola County lies only 50 miles south of Memphis.

We are going back. And, once we have gathered the second batch of footage, we will send it to our editor, Kristina Arias. As Kristina edits the footage, we will continute to share the music in schools and concerts as we promote the documentary’s release in 2016.

Your contribution will cover the costs for us to print CDs, pay for our studio expenses, and edit and distribute the documentary!

These songs and stories are about all of us.  They connect us to the best and worst parts of our collective society, and reminds us of our collective humanity.
