Benitos Cardiology Appointment

Hi friends and family.

My name is Mari and I am a reaching out for donations/prayers/well wishes for my little bud, Benito.

Here is a little background on Benito; he was found wandering the streets in March of 2023, covered in dirt/mud/bramble and extremely matted. I was able to coax him to me and bring him home in hopes of finding his home but once he was at my place, I discovered that he seemed to have been wandering the streets alone, for quite some time. He readily lapped up water and ate some kibble but quickly after, he began coughing and choking on the food. I noticed the choking came every time he would eat kibble so I changed him to wet food. Since I worked at a local emergency vet clinic, I brought him with me to get examined and get some diagnostics run on him. Turns out he had a partially collapsed lung, Valley Fever as well as an enlarged heart.

I got him on the appropriate medications and for some time, he did well. At this time, his age is still unknown and we feel he is in-between 6-8yrs old. His breed is a mix of Yorkie and Maltese.

Fast forward to a few months down the road, I notice the choking/gagging/ breathing abnormality returning so I bring him in to get re-examined and run diagnostics again. Some changes but not much, continue medications as prescribed.

Fast forward to now, I get home to medicate him and notice him not responding to me nor listening to me. I quickly determine he was choking (still not sure on what) but that he was quickly losing consciousness so I begin CPR and rushing him to a local Emergency Vet for care. He begins to slowly breathe on his own halfway to the emergency clinic and I decided to take him in for quick observation. We get discharged with recommendation to follow up with his regular DVM next day. I bring him to work with me for the follow up and still no abnormal changes but slight increase in heart size. Get recommendation to have Benito examined by a Veterinary Cardiology Specialist.

I was able to find a Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology two hours from my town and book the appointment that is scheduled for end of May 2024.

Benito currently spends his days resting as any over excitement gets him to start wheezing and at times he does stop breathing.

I am needing help to cover his exam fee and initial diagnostics. I am asking for just enough to cover the exam, initial diagnostics and medications (if differ from those Benito is already on).

I appreciate any and all help whether its monetary donations, a quick prayer, well wishes or even a share. Please help me get my little bud feeling better and breathing normally so that he can live the rest of his life comfortably.
