Kevin Beaton's Road To Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On August 19, 2014, my husband, Kevin Beaton, was diagnosed with cancer. Originally, his prognosis was great, in fact, he was declared to be in remission by November of 2014, just three months after his initial diagnosis! Unfortunately, in January of 2015, his cancer returned. Despite the recurrence, Kevin's oncologist was still confident that his cancer could be cured (yes, cured!).

This is where Kevin's journey went horribly wrong.

On April 26, 2015, Kevin was hospitalized due to extreme complications from chemotherapy. To be specific, Kevin required emergency surgery to repair a perforated colon. His surgeon didn't think he would survive the surgery. He did, thank GOD, but the poison from the perforated colon lead to a major infection that required the removal of his left flank over the course of 8 more trips to the operating room.  His left flank was not all Kevin lost as a result of the infection. Kevin also lost his vision.

After 345 straight days in the hospital, numerous other surgeries, more chemotherapy, kidney failure, and respiratory failure (no really, he did deal with all of this!), Kevin is finally in rehab. He still has a very long road ahead of him---learning to walk again and live without his vision after 41-years---but Kevin is a fighter (really, that is an understatement) and is ready to face this next chapter in his recovery.

This goal of this campaign is to raise funds to help Kevin receive additional rehab for life without vision, as well as expenses towards his on-going kidney failure.
