Benefit for the Family of Matthew Holderman

Donation protected
Matt Holderman lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday, August 18th.   He is survived by his wife, Jill Holderman, their sons, Matthew and Mason, his mother, Janet and two brothers and two sisters and extended family and his best friend, Jim Agard.   Matt was an extremely gentle and kind soul who was always there to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and community.

Matt and Jill met as young adults and quickly became engaged.   They married four years later and just recently celebrated their 25th anniversary.    Matt and Jill had just returned from a week in Paris the day before he passed away.   They spent an amazing week together celebrating this major milestone in their lives.

Matt was a self-employed carpenter who was extremely talented.  Just last year he completed a pavilion for the N.W CT Rod & Gun Club of which he was a member.   He was an avid sportsmen and loved being a member of the club.   He volunteered at all events and projects within the club.

Jill has been a  Cub Scout leader with Pack 22 for many years and both Matthew and Mason were scouts for many years.   Matt donated countless hours helping Troop 22 Boy Scouts build the scout building at the North Canaan Landfill and shared his carpentry expertise with the scouts and leaders.

Matt always had a smile and hug for everyone.   The picture posted here is of Matt on Sunday working at the Annual Outing for the N.W.  CT Rod & Gun Club.

Matthew will be entering his junior year in college and Mason will be a Sophomore in high school.    Jill, Matthew and Mason need our support to help them through this very difficult time in their lives.    Any contribution, no matter the size, will help them face the days ahead.

Calling hours will be held at Newkirk Funeral Home in North Canaan on Saturday, August 24th from 10 am to 12 pm.   A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours.   Family and friends will celebrate Matt's life at a reception after the service at the N.W. CT Rod & Gun Club, 148 South Canaan Road in North Canaan.

Your love and support is greatly appreciated by the family.
