Linda Kirkland, 69, a dedicated wife, mother and animal rescue volunteer was killed while attempting to rescue a dog in Dickinson, Texas on Sunday (September 2, 2018).

Kirkland, a resident of Dickinson, was to celebrate her 70th birthday on Saturday.
She and close friend Martha Arvidsson we’re attempting to rescue a stray dog when a vehicle struck and killed both woman as well as the dog they were attempting to rescue.
Kirkland’s daughter Leigh Ann Kirkland is a MultiMedia Coorespondent for i45NOW. Before joining I45NOW she was a videographer and producer for KPRC-TV Channel 2 in Houston.
We are raising funds to cover any additional expenses not covered by insurance. Any additional funds raised will be donated to Southern Comforts Animal Rescue, the animal rescue that Linda volunteered so many hours to through the years.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Crowder Funeral Home.
