<div>Mijn naam is Davy en ik organiseer op 25 januari een benefietconcert voor de spierziekte myotone dystrofie (MD). Het is de meest voorkomende erfelijke spierziekte van Nederland en het komt bij 1 op de 2100 mensen voor.

<div>Een aantal jaar geleden ben ik in aanraking gekomen met de spierziekte omdat mijn verloofde destijds te horen kreeg dat ze MD heeft. Zij heeft er nu nog geen last van, maar er zijn een heleboel mensen die er wel last van hebben en worden belemmerd in hun dagelijks leven. In de afgelopen jaren heb ik mij flink verdiept in de spierziekte en ben ik heel veel mooie mensen tegenkomen die de ziekte onder de leden hebben. Tijdens mijn studie journalistiek heb ik voor verschillende bedrijven reportages gemaakt om de ziekte meer onder de aandacht te brengen. Zoals deze video bij NOS Stories, dit ging over de destijds <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CvCWY7bs6VK/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">15-jarige Sven die MD heeft</a>. Of deze video, die ging over <a href="https://www.omroepflevoland.nl/nieuws/405011/ongeneeslijk-zieke-simone-hoopt-op-uitnodiging-voor-medicijnonderzoek#:~:text=Simone%252520Stomp%2525C3%2525A9%252520uit%252520Lelystad%252520heeft,sloeg%252520in%252520als%252520een%252520bom." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Simone uit Lelystad</a>, die ook kampt met de klachten. Daarnaast heb ik ook een documentaire gemaakt over MD met mijn verloofde in de hoofdrol. Binnen haar familie is ze haar vader en twee ooms verloren door directe of indirecte gevolgen van de ziekte.
