#BENDIDGO 4.0

Ben Carlson was a Newport Beach Lifeguard hero who passed away on July 6,  2014 while saving the life of another in the line of duty while navigating the treacherous and massive surf off the shores of Newport Beach. The Ben Carlson Foundation  was set up in his honor to memorialize him for all time  by building a statue and annually awarding multiple $10,000 scholarships to eligible students and lifeguards. The Foundation also continues to educate today's youth on the dangers of the ocean through their global outreach lifeguard program and water safety summits.

What is the #BenDidGo?  
A one day individual 30 statute mile paddle event. It is invite only due to safety and logistical reasons. 

The #BenDidGo was an event created to raise funds for the Ben Carlson Memorial and Scholarship Foundation and to embrace the athleticism, work ethic, and heroic spirit that Ben embodied.

DETAILS
When: Saturday, July 27th 2019  -  4 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m.

Where / Course:

INVITE ONLY PADDLE FROM CATALINA ISLAND TO THE NEWPORT PIER / Benjamin M. Carlson Lifeguard Headquarters

 A closing ceremony will be held at the Ben Carlson statue around 5:00 p.m. for the community and all participants.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT AND SENT TO THIS GOFUNDME WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE BEN CARLSON MEMORIAL AND SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
