Benco helps NY Bully Crew Vet Bills
Donation protected
New York Bully Crew is a 501c3 not-for-profit rescue organization founded in December 2010. Though based on Long Island, NYBC’s outreach is nationwide. They specialize in rescuing bully breeds from the worst conditions, however NO animal in dire need of rescue is turned away. Finding the loving and responsible homes that each and every rescued dog deserves is their main objective.
The shelter is currently been faced with a number of extreme rescue cases that have caused their vets bills to skyrocket. The spike started when they rescued 6 puppies from a shelter in North Carolina. Upon their arrival to NYBC it was discovered they had contracted Parvo, an oftentimes fatal disease in puppies. The entire litter immediately underwent extensive treatment to fight for their lives. On average, a one-night stay for a single puppy being treated for parvo is around $1000. With the treatment, vet stay, and follow up care for the entire litter, the bill rose to over $14,000.
In addition to that situation, they’ve had multiple cases of severe abuse and neglect. Valencia (above pictured) was rescued with the puppies from NC and came to NYBC with an extreme case of mange and a rectal prolapse. Mange is an excruciatingly painful and highly contagious skin disease caused by mites. They were able to rush her into treatment and she is now recovering well, but her bill has added to the financial hardship.
With all of the extreme cases that are being brought to the Bully Crew’s door it has become difficult to keep up. Their nonprofit status means they can rely SOLELY on donations and fundraisers to keep their operations afloat. If they don’t receive relief soon, they may face the tragic reality of having to close their doors and cease all of their rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
I am personally very affected by this situation because I volunteered for a no-kill animal shelter for 6 years, seeing firsthand how difficult it is to address the thousands of cases which truly need attention on a daily basis. My heart was broken when, despite their best efforts and tirelessly hard work, Noah's Ark was forced for close for similar reasons that NYBC is facing today. New York Bully Crew would give anything until the last moment to extend their reach to save as many lives as possible, and I want to do everything in my power to help them and give these loyal and wonderful animals the homes that they deserve!
As part of my internship program, any monetary donation you can provide will be MATCHED through my wonderful employer, Benco Dental! Benco is America’s largest privately-held dental distributor, and they strive to help make a difference in the local communities they touch. I’m so thankful for their support with this project, plus it makes every dollar that YOU can donate even more valuable!
This drive will last through July, and it is my hope that with our help we can get NYBC back on their feet to continue the incredible work they have dedicated their lives to. Every dollar matters and if there is any amount that you can spare, it might truly make a life and death difference for a puppy that would otherwise never make it. Thank you for your generous support!http://www.nybullycrew.org/
